No matter how well we take care of our skin, it’s vulnerable to the passage of time. Do you have scars, wrinkles, dark spots, sun damage, or fine lines? PicoWay® Resolve™ targets these unwanted signs of aging as well as skin irregularities, acne scars, a range of pigmented lesions, and stretch marks. The PicoWay® Resolve™ laser works on all skin types, and after a treatment, your complexion will be brighter, firmer, and younger-looking.
What is PicoWay® Resolve™?
PicoWay® Resolve™ is an effective, non-invasive, non-surgical anti-aging device that uses short laser pulses to stimulate natural collagen production for a younger-looking skin tone.
The PicoWay® Resolve™ Laser is a handheld device used to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen, the healing mechanism in the skin. The device is completely safe and doesn’t need to penetrate deeply to prompt the skin to start repairing itself. After the treatment, you’ll notice an overall improvement in complexion. There is little to no downtime.
PicoWay® Resolve™ targets unwanted signs of aging and skin irregularities such as:

- Wrinkles
- Dark spots

What is the PicoWay® Resolve™ Skin Rejuvenation Treatment Like?
We recommend a series of treatment sessions 4-6 weeks apart for best results; the specific number of treatments depends on the condition and individual concerns. Each session typically takes half an hour. You’ll be given specific safety eyewear (laser/IPL) or an opaque material to protect your eyes from the intense laser light; we ask patients to keep their eyes closed throughout the treatment and do not attempt to remove the eye protection. The laser may feel like little pinpricks to the skin and there may be mild discomfort, but the treatment doesn’t hurt. Immediately following the procedure a calming cream will be applied along with a chemical-free sunblock to the treated area.
After the treatment, patients typically appear red for the first 24-48 hours. The redness is much improved by the next day and by the third day, is hardly noticeable. Don’t plan any events for the first evening after the treatment.
Your skin will return to normal the following day and you’ll enjoy the results of skin rejuvenation. Since there are no wounds or openings in the skin, there’s no healing process. The following 6-8 weeks will slowly reveal desired results to the treatment area.
The perfect time to schedule a PicoWay Resolve Laser treatment is in late fall or winter when days are short and it’s easier to avoid sun exposure. Regardless, you can schedule your treatment year-round but you must apply a physical sunblock of 30+ SPF and reapply every 2 hours.
What Should I Do Before PicoWay® Resolve™? Recommended Pre-Treatment Instructions
Be sure to inform the provider regarding any current or past medical condition, disease, or medication(s) that you take. Recently tanned skin cannot be treated. Avoid exposure to excessive sunlight, tanning booths, and self-tanning skin care products during the 2 weeks leading up to your appointment (and throughout the complete treatment period).
4-7 days before your PicoWay® Resolve™ treatment, avoid these products and/or procedures:
- Electrolysis
- Waxing
- Depilatory Creams
- Laser Hair Removal
- BOTOX® injections (should wait 1 week)
3-5 days before your PicoWay® Resolve™ treatment, avoid these products and/or procedures:
- Retin-A®, Renova®, Differin®, Tazorac®
- Any products containing retinol, alpha -hydroxy acid (AHA), beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide
- Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating
- Patients who have had medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures (e.g. laser therapy, surgical procedures, cosmetic filler, microdermabrasion, etc.) should wait until skin sensitivity completely resolves
What Happens After a PicoWay® Resolve™ Treatment? Aftercare Instructions
Visible results appear after just one treatment.
The PicoWay® Resolve™ Laser treatment is meant to be done in conjunction with a skincare routine. After your first laser session, we’ll offer you specific advice to care for your skin. We recommend a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and a physical sunblock of at least SPF 30, reapplying every 2 hours – the skin is very sensitive after a laser treatment so it’s critical to protect your skin from the sun as much as possible.
Does PicoWay® Resolve™ Require Several Treatment Sessions?
If you’re trying to address a specific skin condition such as hyperpigmentation or acne scars, we recommend a series of treatments to help get the results you want. The number of treatments depends on the specific condition; most patients have about 3-4 treatments.
How is the PicoWay® Resolve™ Laser Different than Alternative Skin Rejuvenation Devices?
The PicoWay® Resolve™ Laser is not as aggressive as the DOT laser and the DOT laser requires one week of downtime. Patients can achieve similar results with PicoWay® Resolve™ by scheduling a series of treatments.
Are There Any Side Effects to a PicoWay® Resolve™ Treatment?
Some patients experience short-term effects such as redness, itching, mild burning, swelling, and temporary bruising. Pigmented areas may appear darker or lighter for the first several days, but return to normal pigmentation color in less than a week. You may see darker spots peeling or falling off in the treatment site, but this is a normal part of the process.
Please note: Not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing. Remember, all patients are different. Results will vary.
